Right. Not that many comments on first one, but here goes. Today we'll talk about religion.
EDIT: No comments when I started writing this, that is.
Long time ago when dark elves and high elves were still just elves, there were born an elf named Morathi, again giving birth to a child named Malekith, as you maybe know. That fairytale, we'll save for another time, right now we concentrate about Morathi. Morathi founded a cult known as the Cult of Slaneesh, or the Cult of pleasure. We'll go into details about later. The cult was forbidden, but secretly it kept going, untill the sundering when the Dark Elves fled and beyond. In Naggaroth the cult again was forbidden, instead the worshipping of Khaine as the lord of murder appeared and became the state religion. A whole city was devoted to him - Har Ganeth, the city of executioners.
I will start up by explaining you about the founding religion - the Cult of Slaneesh. As you might know Slaneesh is a god of pain and pleasure. So is the cult. They hold great 'orgies' of sex, drugs, torturing slaves and eating food in a tranced state, producing a hunger for even more glory and pleasure. Ofcourse, this is also the reason it was forbid. It is quite understandable in Ulthuan, where it was a disgrace, but in Naggaroth it was for another reason. The great hunger for more, more and more couldn't have a state based around it - It would be even worse than the Druchii society today. Every man and woman would wish to become the new Witch King and murder everyone in their way to fulfill their goal. Malekith and Morathi must have concluded that - We cannot be certain though.
Instead, like previously stated, came Khaine. Khaine is the lord of murder. He sits on the top of a skull throne. Therefore you often state: or "Skulls for the skull throne." Some might think that Khaine is the same as Khorne. Thing is, he isn't. I will have Khaine himself answering (Directly ninja'ed from
www.druchii.net - Great side - worth a look.)
Dear Khaine,
Tell them you're not Khorne.
Not yours,
Rork, Lord of Khorne
Pitiful Rork,
It is people like you that make my Cauldron of
Blood boil. How dare you even imply that anybody
would liken me to that blood-obsessed, mentally
unstable moron! You have personally
insulted me, as have all of “them” by claiming
that “they” would even dare to theorise whether I
am Khorne!
This nonsense must stem from your subconscious
desire to WANT me to be Khorne. Surely it is your
deepest secret wish that your oafish deity actually
turns out to be the cunning, suave, subtle,
omniscient, omnipotent, mighty, undeniable,
unbeatable being that is Khaela Mensha
Khaine. All that bloodlust has clearly gone to
your head. Or perhaps you are just as much of a
simpleton as “they” are. No sane being with at
least a sliver of intelligence would want his deity
to NOT be me.
However, to put it simply for the simpletons who
can’t see the simple answer – I’m not Khorne.
Khaela Mensha “Not-Khorne” Khaine
Enough about Khaine - What about his servants?
Most famous are the brides of Khaine, or the witch elves, as they are called. They live to serve Khaines as handmaidens of murder and give him blood for his Cauldrens of Blood. They, before a battle, drive themself into an instoppable frenzy, screaming and howling as they hunt their pray and kill them with a dance of death.
Besides the Brides of Khaine, we have the Executioners. These serve as the everyday guardsmen of the temple - although they still are very fearsome in battle. Wielding great, two-handed ritual blades known as Draichs they are capable of killing men in one single blow.
Lastly, there is the assasins. Assasins are new-born babies that have been given to the Cauldren of Blood as a sacrifice, but miracously survived. If they do, they will be taken in as chosen of Khaine and serve him as assasins - Some of the most fearsome warriors of all time.
That was all I had this time - Feel free to ask if something is buggering you!
